Dates for Portreath Sprint: -
A phone call has been received from our Chairman to confirm the following 2 dates for sprinting this year in Cornwall!
18th August 2013
29th September 2013
Hopefully these will not clash with other events.
We have already received enquiries for regs. Please bear with us, there is still much paper work to be done before making them available, but we will make sure they are well publicised.

Guess what, Newquay Auto club is still alive and kicking!!

The Club may have got its knickers in a twist over the past 12 months, but hopefully it is now starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel.

To start the ball rolling it has been decided to run 2 events at Portreath in 2013. Yes I know this is going to be a big tester and the overall cost will probably be in the region of £3000+, but the club is prepared to take a hit (loose a bob!) this year just to put something on the board.

The tricky bit is knowing who is raring to enter and how many! People’s mojo is not what it was, added to which a number of competitors have decided to either moth-ball their machine or sell it on to the highest bidder.

However, the Committee is fully committed to having a go this year, we hope you are too!
Provisional dates are: 21st July and 18th August.

At the last Club meeting one point that took a little deciding was the minimum entry number. Several proposals were suggested ranging from 35, 40, 45 and 50 (even 50 being a loss maker).
Whatever number you choose people will always expect organisers to run an event for less that the minimum stated. So it was decided to keep it at 50, but be more flexible!

Further discussions have taken place on the prospect of new venues. This is looking more promising; an avenue the club would seriously prefer to invest in. Can’t say anymore here in writing, but all will be revealed in due course.

Well that’s it for now folks, sorry for not updating the website sooner, but promise to do better!!

PS. Wiscombe is not far away for some and Werrington will soon come knocking!

I have at last uploaded the photos Graham sent me soon after the event! He took these images by driving ahead of the rally and catching competitors en-route.

There were some beautiful machines out on the day, which was a pleasure to see. Once again thank you all for your support ... looking forward to next year!
