The Classic Tour is back! Welcome to the Tour 2011!
As our regular entrants will know, last year’s event did not take place due to some misunderstanding regarding sponsorship but we are pleased to announce details for this year’s event. Keith and Peggy Richards have taken over as Clerk of the Course and Secretary of the Meeting respectively.
We are most grateful to our four sponsors of this year’s event. Treburley Garage and Don Statton have supported the Classic Tour for many years and we are pleased to welcome Roger and Kathy Woodley of Degembris Farm Accommodation as sponsors this year. In addition two regular entrants have also offered to add their support but prefer to be known simply as ‘Friends of the Tour’.
Again there is no fixed entry fee. Instead you are invited to make a donation appropriate to what you wish or are able to give by way of an entry fee. This will of course continue to include morning coffee at the prescribed mid-morning halt and the traditional cream tea at the finish venue.
As our regular entrants will know, the event is run entirely on a voluntary basis by the Newquay Auto Club committee members and all proceeds, other than direct costs, are donated to the Cornwall Hospice Care so, you can be assured that any additional donation you do make will add to the total sum raised.
If you are interested in entering the event, perhaps for the first time, the route will, as usual, be 100-115 miles in total, on good roads, all taken at a leisurely pace with generous coffee and lunch breaks.
An easy to follow Road Book is supplied which is designed to keep even the inexperienced navigator on the correct route rather than get you lost!
There is also a generous array of perpetual trophies for various classes of classic car. We continue to take a liberal view of what constitutes a true" classic" and are unlikely to refuse your entry (as many will know previous "Tours" have included “modern” Morgans, Mercedes, Lotus 7's as well as some late model kit cars).
Above all, it is a very friendly and enjoyable day for all with the added knowledge that you are at the same time helping to benefit a most worthwhile cause.
